Join me for this live class!
The Yamaha DX7 synth, by means of FM synthesis, was capable of producing a wide range of sounds that were difficult or impossible to achieve with analog synthesizers before its release in 1983. It was particularly praised for its bright, bell-like tones, rich basses, and complex evolving textures.
In this masterclass, we'll be learning the core concepts of FM synthesis and putting them to practice by making basic but great-sounding patches to develop our skills.
Our tool of choice is the free Dexed vst which is a Yamaha DX7 emulation for Mac and Windows. You'll be able to reapply what you learned here on the FM synth of your choice afterward.
